Emerging from Hobart in 2002, Stand Defiant are a four-piece punk rock band, whose frenetic blend of punk and melodic hardcore has been battering audiences across this devils island over the last five years.

Fast, melodic, technically aggressive and never shy of expressing an opinion, Stand Defiant have fought fiercely to gain respect, and have become a staple of the local live music scene.

A blistering live show has seen the band support numerous international acts, including Strung Out, Strike Anywhere, Against Me! and Lagwagon on their Australian tours.

The band’s lineup, featuring Mischa Calcagno (vocals, guitar), Jason Mizzen (drums), Kenny Forshaw (bass, vocals) and Reece Hickey (guitar, vocals) solidified late in 2003 and has since shared the stage with some of Australia’s top punk and hardcore bands, both locally and interstate including; Parkway Drive, Away From Now, Irrelevant, Conation, The Go Set and 28 Days.

Their previous recorded effort, a split CD with friends and fellow Disconnect Records label mates The Scandal, saw the band take a solid step up in songwriting and production values, an evolution that has continued with the band’s new EP, by far their most potent to date.

The long-awaited 6-track EP titled Our Own Destruction, is the first release from the band since 2004, and sees the four pieces’ tight live sound paired with top-quality production.

Soaring three part vocal melodies and screaming guitar solos are held together by a powerful rhythm section and the band’s penchant for technical riffs paired with strong, honest vocal delivery sets the band apart from the pack.
